Fun Fact #3 – Palace of the Governors

The Palace of Governors in Santa Fe is the oldest Government Building in the United States.

This amazing historical adobe structure in Santa Fe was originally built in the 17th century to be a governmental seat for the Spaniards who controlled the area at the time. The Palace of the Governors records the history of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Southwest Region. The Palace of the Governors was dedicated as a Registered National Historic Landmark in 1960 and an American Treasure in 1999. Today, the Palace of the Governor now houses a museum dedicated to New Mexico History. The building is one of the oldest continuously occupied buildings in the nation.
